Patch Release Notes for 06/25/2025
Pika Release Notes 2025.02.2
Deployed 6/25/2025 to MLN1
New Functionality
-
Bookings/Scheduling Items
-
The recent Sierra upgrade included security enhancements of Classic PAC that prevents us from using screen-scraping of the Classic PAC. This removes our ability to integrate patron Bookings actions into Pika, since there is no Sierra API endpoint for Booking; and iii has said they do not plan to develop any.
-
To accommodate the use of Bookings for libraries that would still like to use it, we have changed the “Schedule Item” action button in Pika to link out to the record view in the Classic PAC where a patron can complete a booking through that interface.
-
Since we also can’t get information about currently scheduled items, the account page for “My Scheduled Items” in Pika also has a link to the Classic PAC account bookings page for viewing current bookings. The Pika account page also has an informational paragraph explaining this.

Bug Fixes
-
For MLN1 Sierra, we discovered that there are many records that contain extraneous 907 & 998 tags. These are used in Pika as the record number tag (907) and the Sierra Fixed Fields tag (998) . The presence of the extraneous tags can cause indexing errors, so the SIerra Extraction process will now ignore any extraneous tags that match the record number or fixed field tag number. This will prevent the potential indexing problems going forward.
